The Watch Partiers' Nightmare Knockout: Everything You Need To Know

Format, schedules, and... spooky twists? Here's everything you need to know.

Boo! The Watch Partiers' first-ever open event is here just in time for the spooky season. From October 20-26, join the Watch Partiers in kicking off the holidays with a spooky showdown for the ages! Grab your friends and assemble the perfect team in an intense race for glory, but prepare for some surprises along the way...

Signing Up

Two options are available for attendees: sign up as a full team or a free agent. A full team must consist of a minimum of five (5) players, with optional substitutes. Free agents sign up individually, and will either be assigned an incomplete team or into a group of other free agents to complete a team.

Format

Now time for the big twist! All matches will be played on the game-mode Swiftplay. Swiftplay ensures fast-paced gameplay without needing to play out a full 13 rounds. But fear not! The shortened game pace will be balanced out by a best-of-three (BO3) and best-of-five (BO5) system in place for matches. We hope this allows teams to play a variety of maps and playstyles while keeping it fresh.

But wait, there's more. We are opening up the map pool to all maps, not just the ones in the competitive map pool (Breeze enjoyers rejoice!). We hope to encourage interesting strategies played out in otherwise inaccessible maps. 

Last, but definitely not least, we're proud to introduce the Wheel of Misfortune. Before every map, teams spin the wheel to find out what tricks, or potentially treats, await them. These challenges and debuffs will play out for the entire map. But fear not! Prior to every series, each team will receive one veto to remove their chance of receiving one misfortune per series, so pick wisely! 

Schedule



The competition will be split into two distinct stages: the Open Round Robin and Closed Playoffs. 

The Open Round Robin will run from October 20-24, and will have no cap on team entries. Each team will play two (2) matches within those two days, and their cumulative win-loss record will determine their standings. Only eight (8) teams will survive and make it to the next stage. In the case of ties in the standings, map score differentials will determine who proceeds. All matches in the Round Robin will be best-of-three (BO3). 

The Closed Playoffs will pit the top 8 teams in a single-elimination bracket, which will be seeded based off of standings. The Closed Playoffs will run on October 26, and will be broadcasted live on twitch.tv/watchpartiers. All matches in the Closed Playoffs will be best-of-five (BO5). 

Pick'Ems



Pick'Ems return! The Closed Playoffs will feature a pick'ems challenge that will open directly after the conclusion of the final match of the Open Round Robin. To incentive you even further, there's going to be some rewards! The top 15% of Pick'Ems choosers will receive a free Discord role in our server! Got a perfect bracket? We'll give you a completely custom role of your choice.

The Open Round Robin will not be streamed on our official channels, look out for the POVs of participants! We'll highlight some streamers to support throughout the Open Round Robin stage! Our Closed Playoffs will be streamed live on our Twitch in English, more stream details soon!
